Haha, I'm a spotter not a stalker :D Hard to say which way this will go - it had obviously arch and sill rust, and border authorities here are very picky on that type of thing. Well done on taking the leap. It's clear that this modification is as much to enable the car to live on in a cost effective way as it is to increase the fun element. 12a parts, especially housings are now becoming exceeding rare and expensive. Ok cool. Well of the diaphragm isnt compromised, it could still be the seal - over time the grease moves out of the way of the oring and can leak. Easy to pull apart and re seal if it is the problem.

Only thing I can think is that if the sound takes a while to go away then the vacuum must have a reservoir - I.e brake booster?

Did you put a 1 way valve in between manifold and booster? Could have popped the diaphragm...
