MOT done today so i can now get it on the road just in time to take my daily off to get some repairs done after my last sprint of the year on the 10th.

From the pictures above the box has had a fair bit of water in there which is the cause of your problem, you will need a puller to remove the bearings probably easier to go to the local garage and get them to remove them but that box will need a full strip down to check all bearings, i doubt it will...

Fair bit of wire worm there but it's all fixable and very satisfying when done, glad you posted the pics as it gives me a few pointers of where to look for the dreaded worm
