I've seen that one on Facebook before, and it's a really great demo of how the combustion cycle looks on a rotary.

I feel the need for some thermodynamic / explosives engineer to explain to me the sideways force acting on the rotor tips to make the rotor turn.
In that confined space it seems to me the forces would try to bend the eccentric shaft rather than turn the rotor.
Is that the fuel inefficiency explained?
