Re: 1984 series 3
Just going through all my unread posts from when i was away - and this is looking great. Nice stance and the wheels are sweet. Never seen slots blacked out with a polished rim but it looks good. Coming together quite nicely.

Re: 1984 series 3
Michael,
are you going to change the front wings to s1 items to match the bumper or just mod the s3 wings?
I think Simon might have 2no series 1 parts cars.... dunno if he's got around to breaking them yet though

Not sure yet Ian serries 1 items would be better but I doubt they would be in my price range at the moment, I have been told I can't spend any more out of the wedding fund

Re: 1984 series 3
Went out to move the old girl as she has sat outside since I used it last in December
and she wouldn’t start battery flat so with a jump from a mates car got her cranking over but still no start pulled the plugs and covered in fuel took a chunk out of my knuckle at the same time.
Checked for compression when plugs were out has got that so it’s not that. Then check for spark none ok clean dizzy cap/ rotor arm put back together still no spark so try wiring coil to battery bingo, starts first turn of the key so take +ve off battery still runs take earth off stops so earth problem changed earth connectors and take car for a trip around the village, down the bypass come off the roundabout back into town give it a boot full for good measure and the slow down to notice disco lights behind me down the road slow back down to normal pace turn off main road towards my place watch in rear view mirror as they don’t come for me think to myself
they not for me... Lucky as it still has no rear bumper (and we all know what happens when you have no rear bumper aye James?
).
Park the car back in the garage then the bloke that lives above the garage comes down and asks me if I want to buy another one as his mums mate has one she is looking to get rid of and its just down the road so watch this space......

Re: 1984 series 3
Well today I cleaned out the shed and cleared the work top to strip one of my 12a motors and what did if find..........
5 of the 6 apex seals broken which has lead to this.

Also the eccentric shaftlooks (to my untrained eye) like it has go hot at some stage although there is no score marks in it.
Fingers crossed that there is some useable housings in the second motor I have as would like to port these plates and build my own motor.

Re: 1984 series 3
Had a bit of time today so thought I would refit the carb and test fit these.

And yes I have ended up with a staggered set of arches.
Now waiting on throttel cables, fuel filters new ht leads.
