good to see another 1st gen getting the restoration treatment 0-0
If you do break the screen taking it out, new ones are available and aren't too expensive.... as Ronnie says, good second hand screens are a very rare thing. They are very difficult to get out without cracking them.
Are you going for a refresh in red again Jay?

The guy taking out the screen said it most definitely will crack, but I've a new one sourced so happy days.

Yeah keeping it red. Went through a million chips before settling on Mazda True Red.

This has been a bit of a disaster so far. Had it out with a welder, who advised me to scrap it - too far gone he said. We put a halt to the respray and I was planning on just using it for some trackdays. But then last week I brought it down to a local guy into his mk1 Escorts etc and he said it's all very easily fixable - and if this is a write off, then so is every Escort in the country! So he has taken it upon himself to do the welding, then I'll have to see about the respray again. Bit of a rollercoaster so far.

Fitted the Longchamps to cheer myself up a bit

Love the wheels - they're almost common as muck now I've seen more than one pair....

Show us some rust pics. Is it just inside the back arches where they all have to be fixed?

some good news then jayo. i have to agree that like a doctor you should always get a 2nd opinion lol.
some guys say its a no goer because they can't do it or can't be bothered.

the escort fella sounds like the way to go and he'll fix her up for you.
get the welding sorted and then worry about the body work.

it did look far too good to scrap.
