unfortunately not gents, Mazda don't have any and places like rockauto only have the aftermarket ones and i don't want an aftermarket one.
Its just luck of the draw.... sometimes they regas, other times they don't.
I supose the way to do it is to turn up at somewhere like sgs with a handful of struts and then get them to test them while you wait.
.........and I think 1 silver 1st gen with a red stripe is plenty!

Re: 1984 silver series 3 ... off the road since 1992
Hallo Ian,
I like the style you explane the work, because my english isn´t very well and it´s easy to follow your words.
Very cool pics they show a lot of brainstorming was working. Timeless colour is my favorite too and is perfect for turbo because the SA22c GTX have the same and all over the world the people like "gunmetal" painted fast cars.
All over the years I take a lot of new parts from mazda but they doesn´t work if it is cold. The parts fom USA Rotaryfactory I got 2011 are fantastic. I buy two (left and right) but only need the left one for excellent working.
The left you see on the picture is Rotaryfactory made

Re: 1984 silver series 3 ... off the road since 1992
got a few jobs done on this car this weekend....
Removed the old rusty handbrake cable and installed a new one and greased up the guides
Installed the heatshields to the underside of the car....... these have been shotblasted and repainted
Painted the propshaft and installed it onto the car.
Installed the exhaust.
Stripped, checked and rebound the gear box loom.
Installed the starter motor.
Stripped, cleaned, checked, rebound and connected up the ignition loom.
Stripped and started to modify the engine loom....... getting rid of the wires that connected to the emissions crap and adding a few more to the ignition retard system for the turbo.
Installed the Autocool fan controller........ I need to make up a small section of loom to power the autocool and also from the controller to the fans.
Stripped the power steering pump and tensioners from the pas/ac bracket, cleaned it up and then gave it a heavy coat of black smoothrite........ cleaned up the pas pump and res and installed them back onto the bracket....... this is ready to go onto the engine as soon as I find some nuts to fit the fixing studs. The bracket is a right heavy monster...... surely they could have made it out of alloy instead.
Cleaned up the a/c lines and got them ready to go onto the car.
Installed a new brake master cylinder.
Installed a recon alternator.
Cleaned up my turbo 2 oil cooler and got it ready to mount on the car.... I'm short of 1 oil line so I'll have to get one made up.
At the moment I'm wondering where to site the air filter....... my initial plan was to lower the radiator reservoir on the side of the rad mount and then cut a 3" hole through the rad mount and feed some alloy tube through it and put large cone filter on the end of it so that it draws cold air from in front of the rad but I'd forgotten about the air conditioning condenser which also sits in front of the radiator so I need to give this a bit more thought. I don't want to be drawing warm air from the engine bay into the intake.
All little jobs on their own but each push the car a bit further forward.

did it over the weekend and a lot of the parts have been refurbed over the winter so it's more about building it back up.
