Here's an interesting thing Thomas.
Your purple machine shares exactly the same series VIN as our UK cars. We also are the JMZFB13120070XXXX series of VINs. The first S3 in our series, we think, is XXXX = 0116, and the last made, we think, XXXX = 5582. (Our own car is just below the 5582, shipped to UK around April 1986).

Soooooo.......let me think here.......the VIN is the body code, which would be the same for LHD and RHD cars? All the pressings and drillings are the same on the production line? It's the factory assembly line which bolts on the LHD and RHD bits?

As a great big guess here then.......Mazda allocated cars in build to various european countries using batches of european S3 spec cars. So can we say 100 or so cars (perhaps 100 - who knows now?) were put on the production line to go to Germany in european build spec - but built as LHD not RHD?

I find it not very logical that Mazda do not seem to have used different types of VIN for LHD and RHD.

Hi, what the VIN means: SA, FB etc.
General Mazda Rx-7 VIN Number information is easy to find on the net, for example:

1981 - on
USA:
JM1FB3314B0600001
• JM1.............. = Manufacturer Mazda Passenger Car
• ---F............. = Car Line (F=RX-7)
• ----B............ = Generation (B='81-'85, C='86-'91, D='92-'99)
• -----3........... = Country Code (3=USA) (1Europe)
• ------3.......... = Body Style Code (3=coupe, 5=cabriolet)
• -------1......... = Engine (1=12A, 2=13B, 3=13B Turbo, B=13B-REW)
• --------4........ = Misc, ID Code / Check digit ("2" all german)
• ---------B....... = Model Year Code (see list 1)
• ----------0...... = Factory Code (0=Hiroshima)
• -----------600001 = Serial Number

1981 7/80-5/81 500001-599999
1982 5/81-6/82 600001-699999
1983 7/82-10/83 700132-770000
1984 9/83-7/84 800001-849999
1985 7/84-5/85 850001-910000
Don´t know if the red coloured could be an explanation.
All German FB Numbers starts with JMZFB131200.....and the engine got the bigger oilpump. My car comes on road in August 1984.Mazda limited the first generation rx7 for germany only 400 Cars per year.
The german FB have the modern dashboard i never see it in right hand drive Rx7.

some of the pressings are slightly different between rhd and lhd........ the bulkhead is handed left or right so as you say Dave, you'd have thought the vin would differentiate between lhd and rhd.

I think I can say it in the correct english, but I don't know the answer Thomas.

You want the front mounted oil cooler but you still want to keep the beehive oil cooler because that carries the oil filter.

Your question is 'What is the correct pipe circuit for the best operation of two coolers together as described above'.

I could try to think of an answer but I have no experience of doing this kind of job so I need to stay quiet.

Thank you David !
All I knew is the bypass watercooled oil cooler open first if the oel warmed up and help the oil get quicker to reach the working temperature. The bypass of the air cooled oil cooler need a higher temperature for opening. I would take the biggest and best oil pump i have.
