Your silver one is our car's brother.....see the silver series 3 in the banner heading with the red coach line.

The last 1st generation VIN number was JMZFB131200705582. Ours came on the ship also early in 1986, we fall in the last dozen VIN Nos.
Looks like a great find.

I'll check tomorrow if your Reg rings any bells from the days of the old RX7 club(s) of the 1990's.

I will have a look for the vin number in the morning. Is the last number taken?

How many are left? I had a look on 'how many left' but had no joy.

Great find. One day I'll stumble across a barn with an RX2 and an R100 and the old guy will say "just take them"….

No, VIN Nos are rather thin on the ground. UK owners seem rather secretive about them.
No knowledge of the last nine numbers. There, I've told you our own VIN......answers on a postcard.

Have you found the most recent 1st generation location list uploaded in DPF form last month? It's in Spotters Corner.
Gives you colour and approx location by series. If I haven't previously noted GTG then it will appear in the next location list in East of England area around June/July time.
The list gives locations of known runners, SORN cars and rally cars. Known scrappers and Probable Scrappers are on separate lists elsewhere.

You can PM me the VIN if you don't want it on here. (Or drop me broad hints based on 5582 being the last).

Well I have had a look at the VIN number. JMZFB131200705441. Not sure what it means but i,m sure one of you will know. :?

While I was under the bonnet I checked the rubber hoses for decay and they seem fine. The oil seems really clean as well.

The Air filter looks good and didn't have any mice living in it using it as a grain store, Unlike my 200 Honda Benley.

Can anyone tell me how you remove the covers around the pillars and the bottom of the windscreen? I don't want to force anything the wrong way.

If anyone is local to North Essex (Clare) and fancies a look they are more then welcome.

Thanks guys

The pillar trim clips are legendarily fragile and almost always break by all accounts. Might be worth trying to source a set before trying it, just in case! As to the hoses, I would definitely advise removing them to check their condition. When I got my car it had been in constant use and I still found the fuel lines had perished when I removed them, but they looked OK from the outside. Pretty much all that was holding them together was the built-in braid. It'd be a shame to get your car up and running just for it to catch fire!

Thanks again for the info.

I will certainly be taking the hoses of before starting it up.

Is there a good online shop for rx7 parts? Kinda spoiled with the amount of companies specialising in mx5s.

UK suppliers will absolutely sting you.... the best place to get stuff is RockAuto in the US....... great quality gear at dirt cheap prices... they ship really fast, I've had stuff land 3 days after I ordered it.... but shipping can add up if you order lots of stuff separately.... we tend to ask on the forum if one of us is ordering anything then combine the order and share the shipping... here's a link...

Hi Chaps,

Well, the hoses were just like the ones in the pic. So replaced them.

Rock auto look like it has cracking prices so thanks for the link. :)

Got the car out of the barn today and gave it a wash.

Changed the fuel, and put the battery from the E30 on.

Took it for a little drive around the farm yard.

Cant believe how easily it started and how well it ran. :D

I have had a good day ...

Everything works on the car apart from the fuel gauge.

That's amazing, what a result! looks excellent 8-) Didn't notice the mudflaps before, that's a bit of extra period cool, lol :D Is that an aftermarket backbox? The pipes look quite large in those pics, and seem to have rolled ends whereas the stock are just slash-cut aren't they?
