New Member from the Ohio!

Post by lokirx706 »

Ive been a long time lurker, searching, learning. If not for this forum and several others I might not have done some of the things I have done to my Tornado Silver '81

My first car when I turned 16 was a beautiful 1981, I was lucky to have gotten it so cheap. At the time I was fairly mechanically inclined. My dad didnt hire babysitters, he had me bring him tools in his shop. Despite this, I had no idea what a rotary engine was, even as I took ownership of the car.

Here is a scanned photo of the old girl not long after I first bought her.

The car looks nothing like this today, but I still own her despite having owned nearly thirty cars. I also have a 1979 in Spark Yellow, that has a pretty cool story with it as well.

And I am looking to purchase a third, an S3 in really good shape. They all are accompanied by my 1991 Miata which is a daily driven track car. Im looking to take the '81 to some track days next year, and hopefully use the S3 I am looking at for a Daily driver.

I also admin the largest and only rotary club to my knowledge in the state of Ohio, 'Ohio Rotaries'

We try to get together once a month and grill, eat, chat, and sometimes go for a spirited cruise. Hopefully we will get the club on Mid-Ohio together next year and have some real fun on the track!

Many welcomes. I'm taking a quick break from reading about your barn find SA (a real quick break as it's a darn good story). It could keep me occupied for quite some time. I'm also a big fan of those targa bands although I think I'm destined to never find one in my lifetime. :(

Loving the stuff at Ohio Rotaries so am heading back there right now .... please send cake

Hi,
welcome along h:
They're 2 very nice cars you have there.... just read the story of your yellow SA.... awesome car h[b[
I've just put a RX7 back on the road that's been stored for 20 yrs...... it's a great feeling once they are brought back to life so I know how you feel. Cool forum you have too, it'll give me more cars to read about.... if you check out the revolving globe at the bottom of this page you will see that we get loads of hits from the Ohio area.... maybe some of these guys will find their way over to your forum too.

cheers,
Ian

Thanks for the welcome guys! Wish I could edit my post title... (Welcome from 'the' Ohio... *Facepalm* )

Glad you found our forum, a lot of the Ohio folks are likely already members as we have nearly 550 members on our Facebook page. Not as many are on the forum, people are all about social media these days.

I was thinking about posting my builds over here just for the heck of it. But we will see if I get time!
