Newbe from Wiltshire.

Post by motiztab »

New guy from the Wiltshire/Dorset boarder. Not an owner but I have spent many an hour driving what I would call the S2 and S3 cars when new! Fell in love with them then and still am only just found this site so look forward to reading some interesting posts in particular the ETL ones.

Hi,
welcome to the forum th:
Many of us on here have returned to a 1st gen RX7 after being seduced by one back in the day..... please share your memories and experiences of them with us......
maybe you could even be inspired to get back into one yourself.... after years in the doldrums, prices for these cars have really started to firm up in the last 18 months...
There's an Elford Turbo currently on ebay....

Now is the time to buy I reckon ;)

cheers,
Ian

Hello Ian,

That's the one that got me interested again.
Brother in Law rang me about it wanted to know what I thought about it as he fancies having one.
Not sure but the number plate could be ring bells. I would say that if it was an ex demo then it would be ex MCL as its got I think Tunbridge Wells number.
Unfortunately I cannot have another car as have 3 already plus 3 bikes between the wife and I.

you're right about the Tunbridge Wells number John...... this is a bit of background from the previous keeper....

It was recorded as "new at first registration" on
10/09/85.
We had waited for the mark 2 to be launched but
preferred the styling of the mark 1. As a result we
got this one from Tunbridge Wells Mazda (next door to
Mazda UK HQ at the time). It had been returned from
Gold Greenlees Trott Advertising Ltd of Dean St,
London. They had acquired the vehicle on 12/10/85.
We bought it on 21/10/86 and had it Parvel (wax)
treated against rust so it is very tidy and has been
serviced by Mazda RX7 dealers or by Rotechnics in
Reading.

I would like to keep it but it likes to be run and I
don't use it enough these days.

I'm always interested in making contact with people
who know about the Elford Turbos...a rare breed!

Do you happen to know who has a steering box adjuster
tool that Elford Engineering produced to get in around
the turbo charger? (You cannot get a standard ring or
socket spanner in there).

Belated welcome from me, John. What bikes do you run? Always interested in cool bikes, they were my only transport for ten years before being perverted by rotaries

Lucky,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Bikes, I started riding them at 17 and never really stopped, had a break when the kids were small but have been back on them for a while now. Even the other half rides but as she is short in the leg cost a fortune in getting them lowered!
I am riding the "family" bike as its called 'cos the daughter comes home from London and has to have a fix on the back 1999yr Triumph Legend 900 the other half has a Ducati 800i Monster.
The photo was taken just before we set off for Ride of Respect 2013.

Cool stuff! A proper Monster before they uglified and burdened them with radiators and ridiculous humongous exhaust collector boxes :( I've been soooo missing having a bike the past year, pics like this aren't helping lol
