I bought my 1984 RX7 GSL 5 speed last fall, and put it on the road this spring. It needed a bit of work for the safety. The major problem was that the floor was rusted out. This was a surprise to me as the body is in excellent shape. I cutout the floor pans and welded in new sheet metal, and put in some racing seats while I was at it. I enjoyed it for a couple months, but then it started backfiring and it wouldn't idle without the choke on. I decided to do the rats nest removal under the assumption that i had a vacuum leak. This eliminated the backfiring issue, but it still wouldn't idle without the choke. I noticed the accelerator pump was leaking, so I proceeded to rebuild the carb. I put it back together and it now it won't stop flooding. So now I am trying to get it back up and running.

Hi J
No surprise at the good body / bad floor part. I assume your cars go like ours in the UK. They disguise underside problems very well.....
I can't speak for your carb problem; someone on here may well help.
