The best i ever read about rotary oil. BTW i always change oil filter and drain the air cooled oilcooler too. Rotary oil must cool the engine from the inside and my 12A experience is mineral oil transporting heat better. Change interval is shorter then synthetic oil interval.

it is oil - just chuck it in
I’ve heard using synthetic wasn’t good in a Rotary. True or false? I’ve always used Pennzoil 10w30 & 5w30 that’s what the shop used & told me to use after they installed a new 13B. I’ve also never mixed with my gas either. It’s been 10-15 years since the work was done & 5 - 10,miles a year at the most. Is using this oil bad?? I live in AZ

I would only use straight mineral oil as the original spec. The Pennzoil sounds right.
Premix is worth thinking about as an original engine could have an inbuilt oil metering pump that's now approaching 40 years old.

Since this is new to me i take it the metering pump is internal? I remember seeing on my invoice that was replaced or rebuilt. I’ll have to look now at my invoice. If not should I be premixing?
The oil pump is on the front corner of the engine, external, that's on the 12A. Presume 13B is the same.
I just think premixing is belt & braces. I haven't noticed any excess smoke from it.
thought I would add that since I created this thread I have done some more research and I use fully synthetic in my 13B engine which has OMP removed. I used total Racing quartz 10w50. I also use it in my 12A with omp still intact, many people say modern synthetic is no problem in rotary engines.
