My Fifth Seven
My first 7 was a 1982 series 2 Silver over dark grey bought in 1985
My second was a series 1 1980 in light blue over dark bought in 1986
My 3rd is the 1985 series 3 black Elford which I bought in 2015, the one that has been stuck with the restorer for 5 years.
My fourth was the white Series 4 FC which I sold last week, still not sure that was a wise decision.
This morning my fifth 7 arrived. A 1992 blue series 2 Elford. Happy days. I will post some photos later

Re: My Fifth Seven
Whilst I was reversing the car into the i realised that it wasn't equipped with a passenger door mirror.
Has anyone got a series 2 manual mirror I could buy.

Re: My Fifth Seven
Shows you how much I remember of the series 2.
I thought the drivers mirror was manual but I found the adjustment toggle.
Would anyone know if the passenger side would be wired for an electric mirror even though one wasn't fitted?
thanks

Re: My Fifth Seven
The wiring is there for an electric mirror on the passenger side, you need a new mirror control switch to suit twin electric mirrors.... I can send you a switch if you decide you need one

Re: My Fifth Seven
Hi Ian, thank you for that. I am not even sure where it goes. I will have to dig out my Haynes manual and try and work it out. In the meantime I need to source a mirror. I have seen them up for sale every now and then but hopefully someone might have one. When I have the mirror I will get back to you.
It is a lovely car and taking it to a classic car painter next week to give me a price on that front nearside wing. Fortunately I know this guy so won't experience the same grief as the last twat.

Re: My Fifth Seven
I traveled up from Essex to view the car in Holywell North Wales.
The car, as some of you will recognise, is Cliff's old car.
It is a lovely car having only covered about 5,200 mile from new.
The paintwork is mainly original with only the front nearside wing needing attention.
There is no rust.
The engine and gearbox are in keeping with a 5k mileage car.
The interior is like new.
Once I saw it I knew I had to have it.
Although I paid a lot for it, and felt i had probably overpaid, having gone over the car today I am feeling a lot better about my purchase.
The last picture shows the car leaving Silverfern last night. By coincidence TOOL was at the garage to see it on its way.
It arrived late last night and the trailer driver slept in his cab overnight, before I woke him from his slumbers at 6.30 a.m.
I had to leather off the little bit off overnight rain. I think it is the first time it has ever been in the rain.
I took the car for a quick trip around the block before putting it in my garage.
The weather forecast was crap so I didn't go out in it again and left it in the garage.
Hopefully the weather will be better tomorrow and I can get some decent photo's

Re: My Fifth Seven
It's like having a birthday every day looking at that car .... congratulations.
I think you have made the right decision selling your FC for this particular car.
Let's just hope it has a stablemate soon.

The two mirror switch fits in the same place as your existing one and shares the same dimensions.Threesevens wrote: ↑Sat Mar 13, 2021 5:30 pm Hi Ian, thank you for that. I am not even sure where it goes.
So cool to see that JAZ has a new home.

Re: My Fifth Seven
Great to see that car find a new owner with a true enthusiast Kevin. You know my views on it's value.... you haven't overpaid for it..... it's worth every penny.... the chance of finding another FB in this condition, with this mileage is practically non-existent, never mind an Elford.
Enjoy it mate and put some miles on it when the sun comes out!
