I wont bore all with the details but basically I had a couple of issues that related to turbo and wastegate which turned me down the path of replacing them both for some shinier and ultimately better pieces of kit.

Behold the shiny thing :)

And T4 manifold with no-brand 50mm wastgegate:

With the benefit of hindsight I can tell you that when fitting a turbo kit for an FD onto what essentially is (clearance wise) and FC the turbo will sit too close to the manifold as per the photos below - you might be able to just see that the exhaust housing is actually touching the FC LIM.

I obtained some laser cut spacers to push the tubo out, but this pushed the wastegate into the subframe so a small 'adjustment' needed to be made to clear it, but once the turbo and manifold were sitting happily, the downpipe which is designed to run past the tucked in FD LIM (Slimmer) was now fouling on the water/emissions bosses of the FC LIM. This required full inlet manifold removal for more 'massaging'.

Importantly though - the turbo outlet is V-Band which is pressed together under force by the Vband clamp - the rear side of the circle is angled so the tighter the clamp the more the force acting on the faces of the seal.

So, I have now assembled some bits that will help me rebuild it back to where I should be - these are:

Longer Exhaust manifold studs - 60mm: Only 5mm longer but just enough to get full coverage of the nut once the spacers are fitted

Core plugs to block the inlet manifold waterways

Silicone hoses for new turbo location

New Exhaust manifold gasket as I am going from T3 to T4 turbo flange.

And most important of all.....a Timbo who is arriving on Sunday in the Golden Nev - if we dont manage to get distracted by alcohol too early we should have a chance of getting mine running and his tuned a little better on the microtech with another weapon I have - the Microtech laptop adaptor:

Top work! Now I can see the pictures I can understand what you were explaining to me the other day, dude  Funnily enough, at no point did it occur to me to ask "would an FD LIM not provide enough clearance for the downpipe?" ...so, would it? I've got a spare one if it's any help. Possibly a bit late now though

bloody hell, that's going to kick in some boost... what do you reckon it's going to put out at the wheels?
It's definitely going to need that posi-traction rear end.
Shame to put it on the car, it should just stay on the fireplace where you can drool over it.

Ah thanks, but if only it were that easy.. the FC and FD engine plates differ in that due to the requirement for a narrower engine bay/more inboard suspension the FD ports are at far more of an angle toward the vertical into the engine rather than the more horizontal for the FB/FC. This means that you need some serious modding to make the FD LIM fit and even then it wouldnt be optimum due to the angle of entry.

Regarding power... well any numbers at this stage are fairly arbitrary and are based on assumptions of various factors, to add to that there is the wheel power/engine power debate becuase not all dynos are equal. But given that, it should make around 400 engine horsepower, which is 4x the stock power, give or take, and probably more than is strictly necessary
