LED indicators and flasher relay help

Post by 84_12a_brap »

Bought an FB (84) about 8 months ago and am almost finished on the bodywork. Part of the cosmetic upgrades included swapping all the exterior lights to LEDs. Look good, much brighter and 'cleaner' colour through the standard lenses.

Of course now though I've got a hyper flash issue with the indicators as well as an issue with the brake warning light coming on when I push the brake pedal.

My question is, can I replace the indicator flasher relay on the ECU in the footwell with a three prong LED one or is it a custom relay? I believe its a 5 prong relay? Or are resistors they only way forward.

On the brake lights issue, I know theres another brake relay in the footwell. Can I just remove this to sort out the brake light issues?

Any help would be appreciated

use a 5 prong led flasher relay to match the board, with the same pins. I'm sure it'll work out better than trying to use a 3 pin.
