Wow, I am definitely there, maybe not the camping bit but certainly for the Sunday. I've just checked out the webpage links and turns out that I have a slotcar model of the Kamei Golf LOL Must bring it along for the 'Honey, I shrunk the car' photo.
Maybe we could do a RotaGathering??

Re: Retro Rides Gathering 2012 - 19th August
We were talking about trying to sort an rx7fb/exile stand if we can get a few cars together
I just hope the weathers as good as last year!

Ok shall we start a list for this? Not too far away now and if we want to have a stand we need an idea of numbers. I think a combined rx7fb & exile stand would be easiest way to do it, seeing as there's plenty of crossover! Also an idea of whether you'd want to do RWYB on the hillclimb (if most are wanting to run the hill they'll put us in the paddock rather than orchard so we can get to and from stand easier).

I'm definitely up for this one.... as long as my car passes its mot...... otherwise I might have to ride shotgun with someone else.
What's involved in the hillclimb then Steve?..... and where would we all rather be for the day, in the paddock or the orchard?

Re: Retro Rides Gathering 2012 - 19th August
For the hillclimb you need a road legal car (road tyres etc), MOT, driving licence and to pay. You got for a quick 5 min safety briefing where they say if you crash its not our fault and to not go too wild. Then you join the back of the queue. There's no timing, and only one person on the hill at a time, it's just an opportunity to make lots of noise for the crowd and drive as fast as you like for about 1 minute at a time. This is an in car run from last years event http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCJ_JWIZPsA
It's £20 for each session, which is 9-1 and 2-6. Last year most people got 4-5 runs in, the morning session was quieter than the afternoon. It was seriously fun, even if I did only get 2 runs till my clutch died last time. So nice to just be able to attack a road with no worries anything's coming the other way.
The downside is plenty of queueing and it kinda means for the session that you're doing you can't really go round and look at the show because you've gotta keep in the queue.
Both areas are nice and have plenty of people walking round them. The paddock isn't very big, so it's much more likely we'd be in the orchard. The paddock is just left and up a bit from the orchard car-park, just the other side of the track.

I am definitely up for this
No hillclimb for me, but Karissa and I will be there in the FB, for sure - we're going to Rotorstock on the Saturday, then heading over to find a hotel nearby for the night, then retro on the Sunday...I have booked Monday off work to recover from all the standing around and chatting

Re: Retro Rides Gathering 2012 - 19th August
We've got 6 for sure so far and some maybe's.
I'll give it till Wednesday for anyone else to confirm then I'll email about a stand. If we end up with more than 6 cars its not the end of the world, anyone turning up in a retro car thats not already on a stand goes into a car park thats kinda within the show area so still feels part of the show (where me and James were last year).
Just means we wouldn't have every single rotary all lined up.
