regarding the screen leak i removed the trims to check the A pillars. they do have some surface corrosion but the problem seems to be the sealant has degraded. this has had a repair attempted in the past as the trim was sealed onto the roof and pillars. temp repair carried out for now, sealed around edge of screen with silicon.
now need a set of trim clips and remove and re-seal screen. may be good idea to remove screen prior to re-spray

The fuel tank was pretty solid although the inside was caked with varnish which i had to use a steam cleaner to remove.

Does yours leak into the footwell? I'm going to look at a temporary repair to mine as well. Mine leaks on the passenger side only but yeah, one of those loathsome things

Hello all. Just a quick update on the restoration of AFH84Y, progress has been slower than i hoped due to this terrible weather we have had and work commitments.

any way here's what i've done so far
all the running gear has now been overhauled and re-fitted, all that was needed really was a couple of bushes and a good clean and paint.

wow, looks great mate. car was in good nick to begin with, an fb owners dream, no major rot or rust.
really enjoy seeing pics of an fb being refurbed, its so interesting seeing the progress, it'll be fantastic when its back from
the sprayers.

now all you need to do is clean up any rusty engine bits etc and it'll be like its just rolled off the production line. :)

Fabulous Stuff Shaun. I'm suspicious of that silver van with the sliding door. It always seems to be parked there, I'll bet it's owner is watching what you're doing!......
