How did this turn out? Did you get the kit?

In NZ we used to get a stainless steel sleeve pressed into these. Then they'd pretty much go forever.

There is not a lot to stop you still doing this if you have a press and a drill the has an OD of the same size as the SS sleeve, which of course would need a bore identical to the original.

Just as a note of interest....

I'd previously guestimated that the slaves are internally the same as the mk1-mk2.5 mx5. Today I tested that, as my slave died.

Image

Left is rx7 s2 right is mx5 mk1. I'm now running the mx5 piston and seal in my s2 body and its working fine.

You can buy 'repair kits' for the mx5 slave consisting of piston, spring, seal and rubber boot for about £15. Compared to £60 for a brand new master and salve that Ian found up there it's not too much use, but if you've got one kicking about the garage floor it certainly is a saving if its just the piston and seal that are damaged rather than the bore. :)

good find Steve.... could help get someone out of the mire if their slave plays up.... MX5 spares are easier to get hold of than rx7 bits. Nice one.

FC clutch slaves on e-bay, they looked like they would fit so I took the plunge.
The bleed nipple is longer and the angle of the flexi pipe mount is slightly different but it fits just fine.

I screwed an old flexi into the new slave to check the thread.

Interesting. I have an FC slave for sale at the moment - I had the FB and FC units side by side and the mounts are the same as is the bore - internals swap quite happily between then.

I can concur that the only obvious difference is the bleed nipple post and the feed angle.

Anyone want an FC slave for their FB? ;)

I was going to cut the bleed nipple post down and re-thread it but there is no need, it is closer to the hoses above but not a problem.
