welcome to the forum m8 & as lucky said fb`s should b worth much more than they r as they r so rare especially our elfords & my janspeed turbo with power steering but the fact is people who look to buy an fb & especially rare parts, expect them to b dirt cheap so keep there true value from rising but then the owners moan when there fb`s don't appreciate in value like say the mk2 escort which in my opinion is ugly as ****, & a rust bucket one costing more than a good mot`d fb 0-0

Yet! Good body rust/ welding free chassis do worth more in the eye of the owner like mine was worth £3000+when i brought it last year
In real life, rx7 is worthless, just worthless to commoner' eyes and you might never get your money back either with turbo,N/A, rare or good chassic.
it's bit sad but it's only a piece of metal box with 4 wheels.

I'd say Walshie will always get his money back... we have watched the values of these cars nearly double in the last 5 years. This car was up for 4 grand.... I don't know what
Walshie paid for it but I can say that if I'd have been in the market for a 1st gen, especially an Elford, I'd have bought this car in a heartbeat for that kind of dough..... it's money in the bank I reckon...... prices of 1st gens are only going one way, as the 'spotted' thread demonstrates.

That's good about the values also it might increased wee bit more after June Goodwood FOS. :D

I do think some cars are more than the sum of their parts, that is what makes a classic/unique & that' s why we own them.

In the majority of Classic car Books the RX7 FB is featured, even in Quentin Wilsons The Ultimate Classic Car Book it takes a double spread :!:

I believe once they are "In Vogue" or some Detective, Coroner, Time Traveller or who ever drives one on TV then they will be flavour of the month (god forbid but even one day maybe even the Fiat Multipla). :lol:

really tidy rust free and little to no welding examples are worth that sort of money.
they are hard to find though and so will sell again no bother for that money.
it's a 2-4 grand for good ones, maybe 3-4 now, not 20 grand or 40 grand so in the scheme of things not massive money for a classic car.

i was up late last night, had trouble sleeping and the episode of classic car weekly is it, was on and had the mint green '86 s3 featured.
even when it was filmed they were saying that they would be a cheap classic due to people being put off by the little rotary engine and
fuel economy, but 2 grand would get you one back then.

so 4 grand or so for one as nice as that is very good. even buying one from Japan and importing would save quids in welding a rough one up.

When people have enough disposable income in life to get a classic weekend toy, they tend towards the ones that they remember fondly from their youth; the car their dad took them to football in, that their Uncle took them to the seaside in, that they got their first paedo lollipop in. And because everyone and their dog and their paedo's dog owned an Escort, those are the ones that everyone wants now. Only people of excellent taste, foresight and discernment took a "risk" on an RX-7 (here in the UK anyway... in the States they sold out and dealers were marking them up at one point) and so fewer people now have fond memories of them.

Well said Lucky, very much true point there.
My youth was a rx7 and a 323GT and happily blowed any fordies in the 80's.
They don't like that and called my a "Jap shit" or " lightbulb" :idea:

I was looking for one of these for a 2 or 3 of years on and off.
I just missed out on the white one before Xmas that is now up for sale for £6995 on ebay, i screwed up the bidding and it went for £2300.
I am sure i overpaid for this one but I got screwed by a bogus bidder who won it at £3200 and then didn't buy. I was away in Mexico and my son was bidding for me and my limit was £3202. He didn't put it in as my maximum price and then missed the end of the auction. Dickhead!
I eventually paid £3400 for the car, whether it is a good deal or not only time will tell, but at least I have a car at last
One thing for sure is I didn't buy it as an investment.
I look forward to getting behind the wheel and meeting some of you at some stage
