Thanks Casey, all being well see you there on the Sunday.

Great, I'll see you there Dibs :D

Closing date to send an email requesting an invite from Mazda UK is 30 April (this coming Sunday).

Simply send an email to team@mazdarotaryclub.com , giving your full name, contact email address, the Mazda model you will be bringing, together with a Saturday/Sunday preference (if any). Please specify Sunday PM session if you can make it, as this is when the majority of Rotaries will be present.

Requests have been steadily rolling in and I'm pleased to see that, aside from our fantastic FB's (8 have registered at the last count 8-) ), the list of cars that owners have said they will bring include:

RX-2
RX-3
RX-4

along with the usual FC's, FD's and RX-8's of course :D
KIMI 1 : 1st Gen, "hybrid" 1983 silver S2 running gear in a 1985 S3 shell, SORN'd, long term resto project
KIMI 2 : 1st Gen, 1983 silver S2 - now sold to Ian Mothersole on here.
KIMI 3 : 1st Gen, 1983 red S3
Plus a 2004 Full Bridgeported RX-8

Just heard that this beauty will be on display in the Mazda Heritage Centre h[b[

Mazda UK quote, "It is believed to be the only complete, fully original and working factory Mazda RX-7 Group B rally car in the world. There are lots of replicas and recreation rally RX-7s, but it’s very exciting for us to have such a complete and rare original example of Mazda’s competition history here for us and all our guests to see."

What happens if we just turn up on the day without pre-registering? Do we get turned away?

Mazda UK have made it clear that it is by personal invite only (from Mazda UK), so I would assume anyone just rolling up without an invite would be turned away. They have limited space for parking and are laying on some refreshments, so I'm guessing this is the main reason they have to control numbers.

At the end of the day, this is a Mazda UK event, albeit M*R*C helped to bring it about so we should be grateful for that, but other (non-rotary) Mazda clubs are being invited too. It is merely an administrative expedient to use the team@ address to be able to get things moving quickly. Even some of the MX-5 Nutz guys have asked for invitations via that address.

If you want to go and you can't bring yourself to send an email to the team@ address, do you want me to personally add your name to the list "indirectly"? - no problem, just let me know, by PM if you wish ;)

I've registered for the event, but it's a bit silly. I'm not allowed to drive any of the cars (draconian) and the registration form can't be completed online if you're not allowed to drive, even if you select the choice of not interested in driving the cars. So to register I've had to fill in the incorrect details.

Just got my email for Mazda for this event, they ask you to fill in a registration form that asks for just about everything except your shoe size.
So fcuk them this is one I will be giving a miss.

Dibs
Ps Malcolm this has no reflection on you, I just refuse to give out that sort of information to some database.

Pps copy of email sent to Mazda.

Dear Sirs
I have been looking forward to this event for a while now, having owned Mazdas since the 70's and more than one at a time, my present RX7 for 30 years. But today I received an email form yourselves asking me to register for the above event, I now find it impossible for me to now attend as I refuse to enter all the information you require for registration to be kept on some database.

A very upset Mazda owner.

Regards
David Ball

Yep, I've just got my email from Mazda UK too.

I'm with you guys, why the heck are Mazda requiring all this info to simply turn up at their event  I wasn't planning to do any test drives, so why do they need my driving license number and full driving history?

I'd like to think that it's an error, and this info is only required if you requested a test drive (so speeding up paperwork on the day), so maybe a simple webpage coding error......maybe....

I'll relay our displeasure to Mazda (when will they stop shooting themselves in the foot  )

Well I was really disappointed to be missing this event, but it looks like no-one is going.
A bit of a cluster fuck really. You think a big corporate would know how to run an event.
