yeh so rand the number on the Leda site and spoke to a guy that knew nothing about them really..

Got the run down that Leda was bought by another company 10 months ago and they were continuing to make the Leda products and for the pre shocks that went out the door apparently they have no data or technical details from the old owners..

The car is rock hard all round wanted to just find out whats the best way to set them up for a start and then play from there..

Spoke to 3 different people and apparently best starting point is to wind them anti clock wise to the softest setting and go 12 clicks in which will be the best starting point..

Have you used these in any of your cars stacy? Do you still have my old Green FB??

Well that's probably a good starting point, but that assumes they are 25 click units and all you'll be doing is setting them at the middle.

Later ones were quite stiff, more so if Gaz rebuilt them because they used a thicker oil and that's harder to push through the valve..

For what it's worth I think you have race suspension units which will be pretty stiff for road use. They'll probably also require that you at least re-bush the related components otherwise the flex just moves there instead.

As a rule of thumb this is how you'd set up adjustable suspension at the track;

Adjusting Bump damping

1. Set the car to full soft on both bump and rebound settings.
2. Drive the car for a few laps, try to ignore body roll and concentrate on how the car
feels on the entry to turns on bumpy surfaces.
3. Increase the bump stiffness 3-4 clicks all round and drive the car
again for a few laps. Repeat this process until you reach a point
where bumps on the entry to turns and mid corner start to make the car ‘sidestep’
4. You will find that the front and rear of the car reaches this limit at different points
(the front will side step but the rear is planted for example) so keep adjusting each
end until it feels right.)
5. Now soften the adjustment 2 clicks.
Bump compression is now set.

Adjusting Rebound Damping

1. Set the car with maximum soft rebound damping
2. Drive the car a few laps and feel how the car handles especially on how quickly
the car rolls into corners
3. Firm up the rebound damping by 3 clicks all round until such a point
where the car doesn’t have any aggressive pitch changes into corners and the level
of body roll is minimised.
4. Soften the damping by 1 click.

I guess you have single adjustable so you'll only be able to do the first part. Tailor to your application..

Yes have the green car "Yoyo" as it's known. Now totally stripped and in dry storage, that's looking at a new life as an IPRA car in Australia..

Well that's some good info there stacy..

Yes the gent did say that they are 25 click itsems and the adjust does it bound and rebound apparently..

As for the car yes totally agree to rebush and the car has a full nolathane kit in it from Australia.

Im hoping to get the car running on the 6 port and use it on the road and some little hill climbs or sprints if there is something that I can slot into...

My other issue is rims - with 5stud fc/fd brakes not sure what size wheels to get I -I found a set of 16" lensos bt http keen on them as in 17s there s a lot more tyre options..

For suspension setup for wheel alignment where is a good place to take in Kent area where they can dial in the camber etc.. Anyone??

I'd take it to Andy Johnson at SVG Motorsport near you. Good guy, track record and not dear.

As for wheels best advice is to pick the tyre you want to be on and get wheels to fit. Lots available in 15" and semi slick, maybe 888 or Yoko. 17" will move the roll centres and the body, would create more work. Tyres also much dearer. Dynamics Cheap and cheerful options for any PcD.

I'm not sure if this is completely relevant, but if they have been rebuilt by gaz it might be...

I was old not to drive my GAZ coilovers set on full soft, they should always be set to atleast 1 click as they could be damaged if the shock bottomed or topped out when set full soft.

No, that's right, but it's for any adjusable damper really. The point is you don't want to be at the limit of travel and banging it against something, but on track you are unlikely to gt there without clouting a kerb. Even then it would be a big hit..

do you still have your red FB and race it stacy?

Yes I'm still racing the FB, but it's orange. Last win was the Racing Saloons series, Cosworths, m3s etc.

Last year or so I've been building an FB Thunder Saloon. 13B turbo BP, Quaife 6 spd sequential, Atlas four link axle, big slicks, splitter diffuser wing and arches etc. Nearly ready now, for Special Saloons mainly, should be racing through the last half of the year.

All of the build has been in TrackDriver magazine. www.trackdriver.com.
