Don't waste your time. Buy a good shell and plonk a 13BT and box in it. Easy 300hp.

12As are all on their last legs now, unless you can find housings.
Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......

I only know 1 person who built a 12A with new housings in the UK (even though the popped it).

The rest of them are typically high mileage 12As running 30 year old housings which we all know are chewed to hell usually.

I love a good 12A as much as you guys, but without housings, their days, or should I say miles, are numbered.
You'll be forced to go 13B.
Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......

A good used 12A housing is £150 if you can find one.

These are good used GSL-SE housings, machined down to 70mm for 12A and cost £500. £500!
It's desperation and further proves my point imho.

FYI, you can buy a genuine pair of 12A housings right now for £1150 plus post and they've been on sale for a while.
Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......

Yeah, that and you have to have access to the site selling them.

They're not overpriced as such. That's what they cost.
