Well you are good at welding & you'd need to be if you ever did a S1!
S1 with S3 running gear would be good.
S1's have best interiors, best steering,& their lighter as well, but engines less bhp, easily sorted.
ta stu..
slightly less powerful engines but lighter cars so no difference really... my S1 seemed just as fast as any other 1st gen I've owned...
wish I still had it!
Just as fast, with you driving it,yes!
Mmmmm brown interior on your old S1 is'nt it?
Was that sunroof a factory fit or?
Suppose this has gone to the scrappy in the sky.

the s1 had a much heavier flywheel which, once the car was moving, made it seem to have much more torque than the later cars

Ian was your S1 reg in 1980.
Being an anorak,my S1 was 1979 & it did'nt have to have a rear foglight or reflectors on the rear lights.
Wish i still had mine!

If i'd of had a double garage i'd of kept the S1 & fitted electronic ignition, have'nt changed contact breakers for over 20 years & would'nt want to either!

it was 1st registered 01.09.1979
I might have put the fog light on myself... I can't remember now but it was the kind of daft thing I did when I was 22!
