[quote="HDT143"]Me and my brother hand rubbed all the factory paint off back to the primer
I would be interested in a more detailed description of this.
When grit type. wet or dry, and how do you know when to stop.
??
I have a number of panels with multiple layers and would like to try this.

When in doubt....hit the gas.
22 7's in the yard makes me a collector...not a redneck.

Re: THE AUSSIE RESTO SER III
Mate we used 280 wet'n dry but the factory paint is not very thick it was easy we just kept going to all the red was gone then i painted 4 coats of primer then blocked the car flat with 400 wet'n dry this car was painted in acrylic but a if you have 4 or 5 layers any no doubt it will be 2 pac paint i would'nt use paint stripper just in case you disturb some repairs on the car that its had done during its life i was lucky this car had not one repair on it but i did not use stripper on it i would go a heaver grit paper like 80 or 120 and then finish it of with 320 wet'n dry to get it smooth as a babys bum. Good luck its a big job mate ive just finished painting my new ser3 and i said to myself why am i doing this again there are no short cuts if you do them it will show just take your time and it will come out fine. Cheers Glenn.
