That's a Mk1 mirror, very different to the 2s and 3s...
I have one you can have for free to try it out, it's in bad nick paint wise, but you'll be able to know for sure if it fits ok before you spend out...it's not electric though, same as the one in the link - you can tell by the ball mounting ;)

Oooh  . It's errm.... it's a bit..... bloated? :? My personal feeling is that it'll make your car look like it has cauliflower ears, but I'm always happy to be proved wrong

"Cauliflower ears" s(c) Brilliant!

Trouble is, I don't much like the look of the standard Cricket bats either    and I find the view out of them very restrictive (I have got used to modern cars....)

Also, Miss January doesn't have a passenger side mirror (she is an S2  ) and I feel the lack of it every time I drive on a multi lane highway so I have to do something.

I have aquired a passenger side Cricket bat but I can't pluck up the enthusiasm to refurb it, paint it and fit it when I know I will not be happy about the end result. Aeros would be better, but to be honest I am not ecstatic about them and there don't seem to be many about anyway:( So what are the options? Most mirrors you see about simply won't fit, and I would prefer something that covers the existing mounts so I don't have to respray the door...

The Mk1 MX5 that I saw (and I agree it was a Mk1, so goodness knows why I typed Mk3 :? ) was the first that I have seen that looked as if they might fit. The angle of the door panel was about right and the mounting looked big enough to cover the existing holes and marks (anybody know how they mount? can you get an electric version?).

Style is obviously down to personal preference - ;s; cauliflower ears ;s; :D - and my own preference would be for FB's to have no mirrors at all  (Miss January's passenger side looks much cleaner) but hey ho.

So. Any suggestions welcome!

They mount from the top, 2 fixings, further apart than the Fb mirrors I think, really can't remember - I can measure one if you like :)

You can get Mk1 MX5 mirrors powered by electrickery, the overall shape etc is the same, only the base fixing is different, as it doesn't need the ball.

The offer is there if you want one to play with ;)

Im trying to grab some of these in the next month or so. A guy on ausrotary has a set but I dont see any wires coming out of the mirrors like in this picture? Did your guys mirrors come with these wires, or did you swap the ones from your standard mirrors?

Here the picture of the ones the guy in aus has. Tape is holding the bag of screws and other base plate he says.
