That sensor is out of stock at Rockauto. :(

Just trawling thru a bunch of cross reference part numbers to see if I can find anything at a reasonable price.

I would be surprised if it was a sensor as such, that is actually measuring something. Is it not more likely that it’s just a thermo switch that either opens or closes at a specific temperature?

If this is the case then it should be possible to test the sensor function by measuring continuity across the plug terminals when the engine is cold and when hot. In the same vein it may be possible to check the function of the relay and ‘ecu’ as well as the fuse and choke magnet by bridging the two connections on the sensor.

Does the wiring diagram show much detail? My choke does not hold on the magnet but never spent any time to fault find it. I always felt it would be easiest simply to remake the choke magnet circuit.

Not yet bro but planning to do so when the Nikki goes back on. At the moment, I use an aftermarket choke cable with the SU.

I had brief thought after reading Tim's post ( most my thoughts are brief  ) could you run 12 to the choke and see if this will activate it. Meaning you could run a switch and flick it on/off when you wish it to hold?

Maybe alot of effort, especially when a series of clothes pegs will do too ...

I still love the way it drives and the induction noise is very addictive Ian.

I'd just like to solve this choke thing once and for all so it is a good opportunity to get re acquainted with the nikki for a while.

The choke should still work without the Nikki ( providing of course it wasn't faulty in the first place) Mine worked ok with the Elford setup..... I did have to add an extra spring to the SU choke cam to pull the choke open once the magnet released it.

The cable was too short for the twin SU setup Ian. Not by much but I could not make it fit easily.
