There is not much better sounding than the low burble of a great big American V8, I had a Chrysler 440 CI (7.2 ltr) in a Jensen Interceptor that was just georgeous

you can't beat litreage.... it gives you the torque and flexibility..... V8's just don't suit 1st gen RX7's though, they are too big and heavy and upset the balance of the car plus a revvy engine suits the character of the car better...... I love v8's but not in a first gen.
