Saturday would give me an opportunity to get some stuff done, so may the strip commence - and the chance to see part of the job in more detail without all the guff in the way. The strip itself was pretty uneventful apart from the standard headlight cover screws that are made of chocolate causing a fuss on the offside headlight. Some enthusiastic drilling saw them dispensed with and before we knew it, she was bare all bar the brake servo.

I'd like to avoid removing the interior if I can help it, as that rarely ends well with me and my inability to use the softly softly approach so next time I'll get the servo out of the way, then remove the heat shields and make my way to the back end. If the deep excavation reveals horrors that require major floor surgery I guess I'll have no choice though but even then hopefully this can be restricted to just seat and carpet removal. I'm pretty certain I'll get her shot blasted underneath and engine bay though - I only plan on doing this once.

In other news, we finally got a proper unit - so all the other old shite is out the way.

Good to see it progressing. Blasting it sounds messy, especially if there’s still an interior in it! Would it not be better to wire wheel it back, or remove interior and get acid dipped? Dunno how cost compares though!

I'd take the blasting route all day long as it's more localised just for the bits I want exposed, plus - everything north of the sills is solid so it'd be a lot of work creation. I've got a mate with a full size car blasting booth anyway so he can deal with the mess. :lol:

Well tomorrow is officially the beginning of the refresh - she is in the capable hands of Froggys classics in Nuneaton. Blasting is happening tomorrow so will have a better idea of what lies ahead but until that point, here’s her less than showbiz chariot for the trip up. It was all we could get that was also capable of pulling our trailer with my mates vw bus on it to save two trips.

Well the results are in, and thankfully it is positive news. All of the suspect spots were exposed plus the entire underside ready for repair and raptor and engine bay ready for paint.

Nothing exposed was a surprise really, I’ve had this car 10 years or so and was used in all weather for a fair bit of it.
