I'm desperately hoping it might still be a nice car when all this is done

One day I'll learn to leave well enough alone, lol. Mind you, we've had to fix a surprising amount of rust and rot in the process, for what looked like such a tidy car on the surface. And there is a serious side to all this... if, as may well happen, the FD has to go soon (

), I've got to have at least one car that's a bit bonkers. Maybe transplant the engine....hmmm 430fwbhp and an open-diff live rear axle

yeah, that oughta work

So, at last we start to see some light at the end of the tunnel

Praying it's not a train. Final prepwork complete; arches rolled, pulled and re-finished where they went a tad gnarly;
No going back now, Mr MOT man better not mind the side repeater deletion!
And, FINALLY!
It's only in bloody paint, innit!
It's alleged that it might even be done this week. It's been so long I almost can't believe it... and I certainly can't remember how to drive it. Getting excited now

Inspirational pictures there Nik.... didn't realise you were going the whole 9 yards with a full respray.....certainly has snowballed from just wanting to fit a beaver panel!....... inspires me to get mine finished... if I had a garage to work in

There was so much that needed painting it seemed a false economy to not spray the entire car. At least that way it'll all match and there'll be no wasted time and effort trying to match in loads of different shades later. But yeah, ridiculous all for one li'l beaver panel
However, we're definitely on the vinegar strokes now
Body parts sanded, in clear and drying in the booth
Even though the front was only painted last year, we took the decision to re-do it, partly because the paint had cracked up a bit where filler had sunk or whatever, and partly cos I took a chunk out on a high kerb
Almost seems a shame to have to black in the bumpstrip mouldings, they look so nice in shiny body colour. But then all the trim still on the car would need to be done to match, or pulled off. And frankly, I just want it done now. So black they shall be
Looks bonkers atm with the wide wheels on but not the skirts and bumpers, they stick out miles and make it look like a beach buggy or something
Bits of trim and whatnot starting to go back on at last; that beaver panel that was the cause of all this massive time and work investiture. Still vacillating on whether it'll look good with the spoiler or not, but it's too late now. It's got to go on, otherwise there'll be nothing to hide all the holes, lol

Losing the side repeaters looks wicked, cant waIt to see this thing in the flesh dude. It is going to be mint.
When do you think it will be ready for a spin? If you need to do any air dryin of the paint, feel free to swing past mine

Looks good nik - also expect a quicker flash on the dash when the indicator or hazards are on - mine are going and the flasher goes mental!

Yeah, some sort of resistor might be the way forward.

A codge bodge coming up.
Can you access the old wiring connections?
Stick the repeater lights inside the engine bay.
Man - I'm just a genius.
Also if you break down you can put hazards on and see what you're doing......no you can't......yes you can......no you can't.....
