spoddy wrote:so whats the deal with the scottish car?
it looks like no one will deal via ebay, but would he take an offer, say if advertised elsewhere, ie the forums?

he has had this advertised for a while so he'd need to change his attitude a bit if he wants to sell it.
its on pistonheads for 1250 and been on the mazdarotaryclub site too.
he bought it for about £400, tidied it up a bit for a couple of months and then advertised it for £1550....
it's probably worth about £700 - £800 with 9 months mot

oh dear sounds like he gave you a hard time.
i got put off by his ebay ad, like he won't entertain an offer etc.
if he doesn't need the money then all he has to do is take a reasonable offer if he wants to move it on.

it looks a nice wee fb, but needs the original bumper as that one on her is pointing up and doesn't look right.
in all honesty i prefer a series 3 and been advised to go for that model.

just surprised to see it still knocking about as i'd say that model is more rare than the younger fb's.

I offered him what he paid for the car + 2 or 3 hundy (can't remember exactly) to cover what he said he'd done to it.

He started a thread on mrc asking who was making cheeky offers through eaby. Like he was trying to embarass me or something?, but it kind of backfired and he was left listing what he had done to the car, trying to justify his price. I think he knew he had egg on this face and he must have asked for the thread to be removed? (they usually just lock them?).

I agree about the rarity. Before the factory 12at one came along it was bound to have been the rarest in the country being a pukka Jap model. 8-)

Description:

Regrettable sale of my much loved RX7 but i have too many cars. It is a 1981 Generation 1 Series 2 car that is believed to have covered just 34,000 miles from new. It is finished in Renaissance Red with a very retro Red cloth interior with beige stripes. The RX7 was built when the Japs were really at the top of their game, the RX7 was a real quality car with electrical every thing from mirrors, aerial, to boot and fuel release, pop up head lights with wash system etc. The RX7 gave credibility to the much underrated Rotary engine. YOI as it is affectionately known has no rust on the body, the interior to is in excellent original condition and even has its original Radio (fm has packed up) the only blemish being the drives door cap shown in the pictures. The alloys and tyres are in excellent order with no curbing polish up to like new. Both steel roof and glass roof are included in the sale. When i bought YOI i beleive it had been sitting for some time as a few problems have reared their head, i had to replace the brake master cylinder, but there is a slight judder from initial drive which be either transmission mount or an old clutch plate although it does change gear perfectly with no noises or crunches, once on the move it is silky smooth with no issues. The fan belt slips above 3000rpm which i have been told is the viscous coupling fan going bad and i should replace with a kenlowe fan thus releasing a few more horses and give way to that glorious Rotary sound. YOI also has a habit of cutting out like it has run out of fuel but it hasn't, i beleive there to be debris in the tank and so needs a flush. Having said all this i do use this car everyday so the problems are not drastic they just would enhance the driving experience.

me too... I don't even bother to reply to 'make me an offer' ads...
When people own stuff, they know what they want for it and if they genuinely don't know what it's worth, stick it on ebay at £1 start and no reserve and it'll find its own level.

The Blue S3 is the Re Reg car 'SUE'. Was in Ainsdale, Merseyside, now with seller in Southport.
