It's interesting to see your RHD cars. I was confused at first, then realized that your car has the steering wheel on the "wrong" side.

Does the exhaust heat cause any issue with the steering box?

Hahaha, I think you'll find the steering wheel is on the correct side  How very dare you

AFAIK it doesn't really affect the steering box. I guess the thermal reactor would have more impact but who still has one of those horrible things? Had a look at mine when I got the car as I wasn't sure how long since it'd been checked by it seemed fine, the grease hadn't boiled out or anything.

It's FDs where being RHD is a total pain; trying to get the turbo pack off is impossible without at the very least undoing the engine mounts and jacking the engine up. The downpipe has a huge notch in it to clear the steering column. Many an FD owner has got a "bargain" downpipe from the States on eBay and then found nothing short of a huge hammer will make it fit

The left side must be the correct one for the driver since the fuel fill is on that side too. You RHD folks have to walk all the way around the car to fill it up with "petrol" :D

That gives us time for the necessary calculations......do I spend on gas or the mortgage this month.......both similar amounts here!

Though your state is in a bit of a fix El baby, according to the newshounds.

Only leg pulling Elwood.

 "fill" it up with petrol!? It's been a long time since anyone in the UK could afford to fill a tank. More like splash-and-dash :(

Last time I fueled the FD it was £1.49 a litre. Took about £80 to top up the tank... which is about 120 US dollars. That lasts just over 200 miles

...actually wishing I hadn't just written that out, thoroughly depressed now :?

i don't drive my rx8 as much now, so use the super market fuel at £1:32 a litre.
with the very hot weather lately i managed about 27mpg over 30 miles and she seemed to be running better.

but understand the pain of filling up, used to be £65 for 42 litres. when i bought her it was £40 to fill her.
petrol is going up again too. i know the fd would be alot harder than the rx8 on fuel with the twin turbos.

Sorry to see that our economic woes made it all the way across the pond. Actually, the state of Michigan is doing OK. Automotive is doing well, and that's what drives our economy. Unfortunately, the city of Detroit isn't profiting from this. It's been in decline since the '60s. Maybe it's hit rock bottom with the bankruptcy and can begin to recover

If so which models, and does anyone have an FC power steering rack ?

(steering column would be good too.........)

Cheers

DB.
