KIMI 2's MOT is due shortly, so I thought I'd have a bit of a poke around before booking her in and found about 5mm of vertical play in the steering idler

. I took the mounting bracket off and found a few pieces of disintegrated bush, but most had disappeared

Searching through this forum I saw that Ian65 had recommended the SuperPro Poly bush so I've just ordered a set for £13.31 delivered off ebay (TDC Automotive). They should arrive later in the week so I can reassemble the idler and book the MOT!

Whilst poking around, I also spotted the passenger side oil cooler bracket that mounts it below the radiator had failed. I decided the best option was to construct a new bracket. Works a treat!
New bracket and failed original:

Waiting for SuperPro poly bushes to arrive for steering idler, so decided to clean up the bracket and give it the full POR15 treatment. A small thing, but very satisfying
I will use some superfine wet'n'dry paper to clean the bore of some slight surface rust just before greasing it it up.

Thanks guys, always more to do with these cars though

Polybushes arrived last week:
Now fitted, with fresh bracket fixing bolts/nuts:
That's improved the steering somewhat

Pleased also that all the "major/not nice" clunking/rattling noises have finally abated and she drives fine again now.

She's now booked in for her MoT next Tuesday - fingers crossed!
