Thanks for all the help! Just waiting for the bank managers approval (The Wife  ) as to which route I get to go down....

Got prices on a re-core here in my home town and it works out to R2300 which is about £128 so will see over the next few days if I am still alive.

So I stopped past home for an early lunch and found this waiting in the lounge..... :o :o

Image

Apparently my wife had called her dad about it and he pulled some strings somewhere and I have a freshly recored radiator ready to be put back in the car!
I didn't even know it was gone.... After getting the quotes I placed it in the garage and hadn't been in there since Monday.

Things got hectic the last week or so so didn't get much time to do anything on the car....

Thanks for the encouragement myatt1972.....

Well I got the radiator fitted, cleaned out the pipes and water pump, replaced thermostat, made new gaskets and put it all back together. Temperatures look great! Best I have had with the car!

Moved it into the garage and found a puddle of coolant where the car had been idling..... After looking for ages found where it was coming from....
While putting it all back together it looks like I pinched the gasket between the pump and the block.... So need to pull it all apart again to put another one in :(

Did you put the shims in on the studs to keep the water pump housing flat with the front plate?

Common mistake.
Back in the UK for the summer, maybe longer......
