I would personally leave it as is aye. Rather than drilling in to that lovely paint :o

I agree with Jesse, it seems a shame to start changing the stock car, drilling into a pristine door

Yeah I wasn't sure about spoiling the paint but the door will have to be blown over to match the repaint of the front wing.

It's the front wing that's slightly off isn't it? Surely a good bodyshop can match the wing repaint to the rest of the car without blowing in other panels

It wasn't built by Mazda with 2 mirrors. Changing it will de-value the car in my opinion and from what I understand the value of any classic car is directly linked to it's originality.

Just my view.

Another vote for leaving the mirror situation as is. Put a mirror in the garage instead!

If you go to a proper painters with a spectrometer, you can give them a small panel, like the fuel filler door or something, and they scan the paint and that allows them to accurately mix the paint to an exact match, there should be no reason to be blending in to other panels I think, that's the worse way of doing it I understand.

If you are still tempted with the passenger mirror, have you seen this:

Beware though, I'm not 100% certain the mirrors on RHD and LHD cars are the same?

There must be a difference between LHD and RHD. i recently dismantled mine to repaint them and on the metal base, that bolts on to the door is the indication for left or right hand drive. You can't see it, unless it is taken apart.

Thanks everyone. I am still undecided whether to put the mirror on or not.
I have sourced one from a member of this forum and it is from a UK car.
Not convinced that putting it on will make the car less valuable or less original. Although passenger side mirrors didn't come as standard you were able to specify them when ordering a new car.
In this day and age it is probably safer to have mirrors both sides.
I am not in a rush so will mull it over for a while
