Hello and welcome to this auction for a Mazda RX-7 which I am selling on behalf of my friend who does not have an Ebay account.

The vehicle has had just one previous owner, is a 1.1 litre, manual model in sunset red. It was first registered in 1980 on a W-plate and, to date, it has covered just 148,000 miles.

M.O.T expd recently. Should pass with no probs.

This RX7 mk 1 (limited edition) was manufactured in Japan probably in 1979. Body shape based on ferrari 350GT. Imported to Hereford England in 1980 where it stayed until i bought it in 2,000. At that time it had 78,000 on the clock.

By 2002 she looked and worked well. Engine rebuilt for a £1,000, now 156 BHP. Around 2005 the rear end was extensively rebuilt using original panels & the car re-sprayed to original sun set red. Stainless steal exhaust fitted. In 2009 with 135,000 miles on the clock engine again rebuilt (although still working well) to 3rd stage porting large webber plus K & N air filter. BHP now approx 200.

Many original parts remain including original wiring loom & shock absorbers. (Electric mirror still working). Now at 148000 on clock the engine is fully run in. (Top speed 150 plus)Wearing 4 Michelin tyres her road holding is phenomenal. (Chassis is true). No ABS, no traction control no heated seat or sat nav. No E.C.U !. This is a light, seat of the pants drive!. I hate to part with this car. P.S interior tatty.

1983 Mazda RX7 FB

This car was a very good example before a work shop fire destroyed its front end and I unfortunately don't have the time or money to make the repairs.

The engine had covered 51,000 miles and the body work was exceptional as was the interior, I dont want to send this to the scrap yard and hope that there might be someone who could bring her back to life or at best use her for parts. I may strip her down for parts if there is enough interest.

The car from the wind screen back is in very good condition inside and out, if you need more photo's or would like to view the car just ask.

Located in TN15

Car is advertised elsewhere so I receive the right to end the action early.

there is already a thread on this car on the forum...

Tim gave me the heads up about that SA coming up for sale when I saw him about my SA's - he did say it'd had a lot of work done on the shell but unsure of the workmanship at the moment. Will be interesting to see the pictures.

I do like the black 7 but that price seems a bit too high especially for almost 150,000 on the clock. The red C...FAX one has less than half that.

I'd say personally that in assessing a car of this vintage it's all about the body work. Anything steering, suspension or brake wise will need attention just through sheer age let alone mileage - the engines can be easily replaced but the body is the hardest thing to the years back on.

Agree that compared to C..FAX the price is optimistic though

I think people put too much emphasis on milage.... it's largely irrelevant with regards to the majority 1st gens which are all 27 yrs +..... as above, the condition of the shell and bodywork is absolutely everything. Mechanical parts are just bolt on, bolt off.... but rusty bodywork takes time, skill and money... or in the case of the car I'm currently stripping, could make the car well beyond economical repair.
Most original 12a's will be coming up to their first rebuild over 80,000 miles. I'd take a car with 140,000 miles that has had everything done and has a rust free body over a 50,000 miler that's tired and rusty anyday.
The only exceptions to that are the handful of mint low milage unrestored and original cars on this forum..... the milage is then yet another asset to the car.
That black s3 is optimstically price IMO..... no fb's are fetching that kind of money and haven't for the last 3 years to my knowledge.
