that wee fb is in some order already. but you are very wise to be doing what you are doing ian.
it will be a lot of man hours, but worth it in the end. as the car will be rust free as you say and the body is more important in these
than say the engine etc.

it''ll be like new as they say when finished. man i'd love to get myself one of these someday :)

decisions.... decisions.....
to make a proper job of this car, it'll need a complete respray eventually..... that's a long way off but as I'm doing the underside, the wheel arches and engine bay at the moment in body colour, I need to decide on a final colour now
I did intend to redo the car in it's original sunbeam silver....

but I do like Tornado silver

which should I go for..... any views??

That tornado siler is fantastic - the only colour better than tender blue IMO.

Silver is ok (sorry Dave ;)) so if you are going to go to the trouble of having it painted then I say go for it - surely the only one in the country then??

For me I would say tornado silver, its looks amazing, really suits the car and seems timeless to me.

That Tornado silver looks amazing and I have wanted to paint my SA that colour ever since I first started researching S1s. However since working on the car and doing a bit more research I am now stuck between tornado silver and mazda pacific blue. Decisions decisions!!

Tornado is a great color. But if You change the color of the car You have to respray the whole car, inside, outside and engine bay..
I had some thougts about another color for my 1983 FB when is was ready for the paintjob. I really like blue for an FB. I have chosen for the original Sunbeam Silver becouse the car was that color when it left the factory.

I don't know how it is in the UK but over here in Holland the color of the car is printed on the car's register document. (don't know how You call that peace of paper  )

yeah, if I do a colour change, it'll be the full works, glass out, interior out, engine bay and underbody colour change.... there's nothing worse than a car that's only blown over outside. Lots of old English sportscars used to get quick blow overs to change the colour....old E-types, Triumphs and MGs..... usually to red for some reason.
We used to drop the clocks out of the dash to see what the colour was behind them..... only people doing the job properly go to the trouble of stripping a dashboard out first before spraying.

The UK registration document only states the basic colour, not a paint code so as mine already says 'silver' and I would just be changing to a different shade of silver, that would be ok and I wouldn't need to notify a colour change.
It's still a big job though to change the colour.... I doubt if the burgundy interior would go with tornado so I'd probably also end up changing the interior.......................

it does look nice that tornado silver. that's the mazda museum 12a turbo in the pic isn't it?
if you get your fb as nice as that one it'll look great. i think they had a maroon interior?

if the car you got your other parts off, the 12a turbo etc still has the interior it would suit.
