stripped the engine bay now for paint and have taken the opportunity to pull the manual steering box so that I can replace it with my power steering setup....

Image

here are comparison photos of both the manual and PAS steering boxes and columns.... the PAS column is 2 piece which makes it ideal for FC subframe swaps...

Image

Image

because I need the speed sensor to provide the signal to the PAS ECU, I've put my turbo clocks into this car as well... which also gives me the factory boost gauge to go with my turbo installation...

i've almost decided to respray this car in it's original sunbeam silver... but.... tornado is nice isn't it?! I could do with seeing that colour on a car in the flesh before I make a final decison... do Mazda make any current models in tornado silver?

engine bay now ready for top coat....
I've cleaned it all back, re-seam sealed some of the joints where the original sealer had shrunk back and given it all a coat of etch primer and then grey primer...

Looking cracking Ian!

You reserving judgement on the colour then? Nothing wrong with the Silver of course, but that Tornado Silver just looks fantastic and would certainly make you unique (as if the FB wasn't unique enough...!) :D

Either way this is one lovely motor 8-)
