I don't think it ever went to Ramon, dude. That's my old engine though. Sold it to the young chap in Notts.

Yes, he (Alex) talks as if he sourced the JDM engine himself so I must have got my notes wrong.

Thanks Tool, all amended now.

He did source it himself. He answered my for sale ad on eBay and sourced it out of my garage by putting it in the back of his Autoglass van. :D

Yes, Lucky, I did help him ;)

codge wrote:Yeh, looks like a nice car.

But it's been doing my 'ed in this morning. How come it's first of all in Nottingham; then I had it noted with Ramon down south. This morning I see it's back with it's original owner (but sporting TOOL's JDM)?

Someone explain the trail to a confused old git. I suspect you're going to tell me it's all been on here and I've missed it. Doooh.
the first I saw of it was here...

http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/s ... 89&page=39

then I saw it in the car park at rotorstock 2010....

viewtopic.php?f=24&t=3

then it surfaced again this year when the owner bought Tools 12at and put that in it.....

meanwhile, the owner signed up for this forum, absorbed all the info ( and presumably read all about Tools 12at engine) but never posted or introduced themselves.
About 6 weeks ago, they posted an ad with photos for the parts that were left over from this engine swap... gearbox etc.
As this is a free forum for enthusiasts who share their knowledge and passion for the cars, not just a free classifieds service for people who can't even be bothered to introduce themselves, I deleted the post and his account.

He obviously knows what he's doing with these cars so it's a shame he didn't join in and share his project with us.
Don't know how he can say the housings are fine though unless he's done a tear down on the engine which I doubt. The car it came out of had done 96,000 km ( or 60,000 miles ) so I'd be interested in seeing the results of a compression test on it. Turbo'd 12a's have a hard life.

It has got the later FC style direct oil injection into the housings though so they "should" have faired better than stock 12A Nikki fed 12As.

Hmm certainly never been my way, so can't help you out on that one Dave ;) maybe the spreadsheet has jumped a line of something? I have C969DKP and I had the A reg Silver S2 1 owner, now parked up in NZ.

Any who's - this might be well old, but worth a spot anyway: I have seen plenty 318iS's with rotangs, but never have I seen a rotang with an M42 1.8 from a 318iS. I completely don't get it at all - heavier than the 12A and near enough the same power :D what the fork?

Yes but look how pretty the front end is, a vast improvement on Mazda's design. -haha-
