short day today, had family stuff in the afternoon. But alot accomplished, removed OEM exhaust, cut Y off header, removed all heat shields,removed blocks holding fuel and brake lines to the chassis, wire wheeled full length both sides (note to self- use a torch to burn out undercoating inside rails before welding) I stitched about every 4-6 inches from as far as I could from fire wall to the tops of the lower arm mounts in the rear, found rust through place in driver side frame rail- cut the worst out-treated with ospho while I stitched-re-enforce on both side rails then boxed it in with overlapping "u" section. Decided I'm gonna add the lighted driver door lock, Cricket is an "s" model so I've added all options from the "GSL" parts car I can and after a few repairs and a change to LED should work perfect!

can anyone tell me why my 12a hosings are cast this way?

and not like the usual 1st Gen rx7 castings?

The rust I found before repair

frame rails prepped....everything exposed was stitched but still have a few places to do and ran out of time, next week I plan to drop the rear axle for the one of many times ( car has to remain a roller throughout build b/c of shop space) So I can stitch rear suspension mounting points and rear subframe then show finished product...

Not sure what you mean. They are S3 housings.
What do "other" FB housings you've seen look like for comparison?

1st photo is my housing which says "mazda motor corporation" I have a s3 with origional motor which is second picture and 2 other 12a's and all 3 say "toyo kogyo co. ltd" on top of rotor housings, was thinking newer castings were used.

Todays mission was to drop the axle, stitch suspension mounts front and rear, but after removing the tension rod mounts i found this

removed radiator, radiator support, wiring harness (going to do a tuck job anyway), and anything else inn the way and wire wheel it down

treated it with ospho and began to strip the front harness and tag everything and plan my routing for the tuck

favorite shot of the day....both my rides in one shot

lets just say i left rotaries to play with "leggos" but came back to big boy toys!

worked on wiring yesterday, started with this

started laying it all out, extending/shortening the engine wiring

then connecting to main harness

then tucking and hiding as much as pssible on motor, everything connected

then I started on the passenger side re-routing and tucking where and when I could and ended up with the next 2 shots


and overall passenger side

which leaves me on the driver side, holes are made where they need to be, pull wires ran, all I have left is extend a few then join the 2 harness' together!

here is what I've pulled thus far from the harness

shot of stock exhaust for placement and scale with new componants along side. laid it out to make a rough list for materials

cutting this y off to retain the duals

sound level-when needed- will be controlled with baffles here

center muffler is a super 44 series dual in/dual out but combines into one inside, like a x-pipe

and finally a few shots of the initial frame rail rust i found repair and the stitching
