Keith's red S3

Post by myatt1972 »

As most of you probably already know last week I bought James's red S3, the car is a credit to James and I will do my best to keep the car in good order as the previous owners have done.
Im very pleased with the car and it will be staying pretty stock, I only have a few things planned one being the exhaust.
It just so happens I have a complete exhaust ready to go on so today I did the swap, here they are side by side.

It never ceases to amaze me the complexity of the stock exhaust, good riddance !
Single tail pipe looks pretty good to me :D

that's a Janspeed isn't it Keith? If so, the difference will be like night and day, they add loads of horses over stock....... better get your ear plugs ready though!

A good start! How narrow is that pit, though? :? Do you have to, like, shuffle along it sideways?

Looks like a Janspeed system apart from the rear box. Mine is a flat oval shape, surprisingly large and heavy as well. Stamped Janspeed on the bottom. Maybe the one pictured is an older system than mine?

Keith
Let me know what the Mazda Backbox is like, particularly at the front end (hidden in pic). I run a hybrid system with a Double S front end and a Mazda Backbox, which is rotting out.

I think that back box is in pretty good order Dave, I will have a good look at it tomorrow and engrave your name on it.

Ive been for my first run today with the new exhaust fitted, I also removed the viscous fan that was soaking up valuable horsepower.
It has certainly made a big difference, it feels like ive just kicked a fat bird out of the car (ahem, I would imagine).
Im not sure if its a janspeed or not, it was fitted by hurley engineering when they did an engine rebuild on a scrap car I bought a few years ago. Whatever it is the sound is addictive :D .
After a quick blast I gave her a well deserved wash.

James, you never told me about the police air horns :o
