Door differences

Hi everyone,

I recently changed my door from a S2 to my S3 as there was a huge dent in the side. I noticed (after fitting it) that the hole for the wiring was smaller so some of the connectors wont go through. Are the doors different inside?

thanks :-)

Not that I'm aware of?

Sure it isn't a s1 door? Pretty sure they didn't have a passenger mirror at all let alone a electric one (presuming its the passenger door you replaced)

No it was the drivers door. The connectors won't fit through at all so I assumed that the stuff inside the door was different. It was definately an S2. How weird lol

I alays thought s2 doors and s3 door shells were identical... the only difference being on the series 3 to the handle and the extra little bit of loom to make the drivers door lock barrel light up green and the ignition barrel light up whenever anyone lifts the driver door handle.... I don't think series 2 cars have that feature.

Some S1's had electric mirrors too, mine did - but had wind up windows. Ever felt the difference in weight between an s1 and s3 door?

Fatties. :D

Ian, you were right about the door handle and barrel. Although my barrel wasn't even wired up lol. I just took the pins out of the connectors and put them back on inside the door. Everything seems to work so its just the size of the hole that the wiring goes though that was different. Oh well, thanks for the help everyone :-)

AMC Pacers had a passenger door that was four inches longer than the driver's door. In keeping with its target market as a "full-sized compact" that could accommodate four adults as well as the driver, it was supposed to make it easier to shove your quartet of tolerant passengers in and out. It's not necessarily relevant to FBs I guess, but it is gospel truth. And highly amusing. Shame the cars were dismally wretched in almost every other respect, but at least they had a Unique Selling Point that's still... well, unique
