Re: Bump Stops
Thread revival
. I'm wondering how these are supposed to attach to the body? I have had some pretty harsh clunking when going over big bumps from the rear left.. I had a look and noticed this a few weeks ago

That is a massive washer with a bolt (hard to take pictures with not much space
).Quite obvious what the clunking is now. But I doubt that is how it should be attached. The following is my drivers side which looks a more correct way of attaching it.

Today I had the rear end jacked up to try figure out my weak handbrake and check out my rear calipers/pads. Oh wait..

It fell of as I was poking around. I hardly touched it! Promise!
. Is it supposed to be glued onto the washer somehow? If so, does anybody have a suggestion what to glue it on with? I'll get out there tomorrow and size up new bolts and washers so they are mounted the same also hah.

Re: Bump Stops
Sorry I can not help with the Bump Stop problem but I would suggest some sort of rust deterrent as there looks to be a lot of surface rust that I think needs addressing before it gets too serious & is screaming out for the "old diesel engine oil treatment". Cheap to do but very messy, this is the best time of year to do it as it spreads everywhere when its relatively hot.

Re: Bump Stops
Thanks for the reply. I have plans to pretty much take out the whole rear end and POR15 the whole lot pretty soon! Along with various other changes
. Need to get some welding done first though

Re: Bump Stops
POR15 is your friend
I had exactly the same thing.......clean the loose rust off the washer then stick the rubber bump stop to the big washer with POR15..... once it's dry, it'll never come off...... a nice, easy, permanent fix

Re: Bump Stops
I did manage to get some Mazda ones, but I want to use a harder shorter poly type stop.
Not surprising they detach after 30 plus years tho.

Re: Bump Stops
Smaller washer goes inside, so they can't fall off. Correct washer not pictured. That car needs a whole lot of Por-15, right away!
