Hi folks,
Hope you’re all well. Here’s my question:
If I had a standard metal sunroof in good condition, and a glass ‘moonroof’ where all the metal parts were rusted, would it be possible to restore the moonroof with the parts from the metal roof?
Cheers,
Pete

I'm fairly sure you cannot interchange parts because the moon roof fixings are designed to go through holes in the glass with rubber washers. (Can't quite recall the detail).
I think I managed to remove my fixings (with care) and then I could wire brush them, prime and repaint with black enamel. I might even have done some fixings in situ when they wouldn't come off easily. The point is you can refurb the fixings if you're reasonably careful and you can think of a way to protect the glass.
For example you could make a mask out of thin metal with an exact fit hole (or even pair of holes) drilled in it.

If you have a pair of outer female threaded caps then the answer is yes.
