Since owning the fb there is a constant clicking/tapping coming from the fuel pump.
Is this normal on first gens or does it need replacing
Cheers

you should hear a slight hum/buzz from it when it's running but it certainly shouldn't be playing Dance With The Devil....... sounds like it's on it's way out

Control your fuel lines and fuel pump if isolated from the chassis with rubber between fixing points.
Sound puls should be boost by the bodyshell works like a loudspeaker.
My english isn´t the best but read these link to understand what i mean. Hope i could help.

If your pump has been replaced by an aftermarket type it may well make a constant clicking noise that is normal.

Be worth direct wiring the pump using the original wiring to trigger a relay
I have a facet red top pump for sale which is a good upgrade to a 30 year old one!
You will need a fpr too though

Mick, the OEM fuel pump delivers fuel at at 3.7 to 4.7psi. The facer 'red top' delivers at 6 to 8psi. The use of a FPR would be useful in terms of not overwhelming your fuel delivery system.
