Hello all, writing from the emerald Isle.. owned an fd rex some time back, and I now have an interest in the fb! I wanna save one! Have saved a datsun z already, so now it's time to save a rex! Anyway, thanks for having me, hope to get to know the site well..

Yes codge, nigh on 1200 of your pounds to register one down here if it's not 30 years old! Ridiculous.. and lucky, sure thing..pics on the way..tis in a sorry state at the minute though

To stay over 30 years old you would need a 1st Generation Series 2, which finished production in '84.
Mind you a Series 3 project longer term might be viable because they only went into '86 for registrations in the UK (and a microscopic few into '87 or later).
Check out the Location List pdf on here (Last one is Jan 2014). There's only about dozen and half cars or so known about in Eire - that's S1, S2 & S3 all added together. And a lot of the S1's are full blown rally cars.
So most get brought over from parts of the UK.

hello
i'm in the north, i know of a few fb's. however some are 86 s3's and so no good with that VRT you have down south.
i do know of some really good ones but they're about £3000-£4000 however no welding and totally original s3's nothing to do but drive etc.
raymond sold his red s2 to a fella from galway, i dunno if he'd know anyone else up north with something s2 that would be over 30 years old.
there is jay on here who has his red fb, he is back in ireland now and he might know of a few owners down south looking to sell on.
i can ask about and see what might be available, would left hand drive bother you? after that it's a trip across the water to blighty to get a decent
s2 to be honest and then you'd need to ask the lads on here for help.

Thanks Ronnie! Nope, righthand drive is a must.. Some welding is okay I guess, but completely rotted out undercarriage is outta my league..I've seen a few beauties here on the "spotted" archives..All of which were only in the hundreds of pounds range..and all of which I'd imagine were sold! Patience I guess! Haha. .

to be honest any half decent fb is going to be starting at £2000 upwards. it's the rust in the major areas which kills the body on them so you would be really better saving up for a really good one as you will spend it in the long run. there are some decent fb's in england from one grand upwards but you need to check under the rear seat, the sway bar areas in the rear wheel arches and chassis around the engine bay etc.
if i was going to buy an fb i would be saving up some more and buying one from £2000 to £3000. really, really mint ones from Japan would set you back £5000 upwards, but then no rust issues and you get the Jap spec fb's, later models had the 12a turbo or early 13b engines.
you only pay in the long run really so better buying a really good one at the start. check out the blue s2 on ebay.
