Side Emblems

I came across a different kind of side emblems than the classic set.
I suppose that this was limited to the early S1 of 1979-1980.
But does anybody know what was the difference and whether they were simultaneously used in 1979-1980 (i.e. some cars had the one kind of emblems and some the other)?
Was it perhaps for cars destined for different countries or different car trims?
Does anyone know when each one was used?
Thank you

That second one was used on RX4 iirc.

Yeah, I'm not sure the second one was ever used as a side-emblem on RX-7s, though some American-market models seemed to use it as a rear valance badge (like, as MR TOOL says, the RX-4 did). Sometimes it seems just a case that Mazda had a few boxes left over at the factory to get rid of
^^^ that's a Canadian Limited (last version of the SA22 Series 1 in the North American market)

I am located in Canada. The two 1979 7's that I have owned had the Rotary engine badge as shown on the red car. It is not there in later models.
