Hello fellow rotor heads!

Hi there, how're things? Thanks for letting me join, I really appreciate it. I've loved all cars since the day I was born, my parents own an rx8 and since they bought that I've been obsessed with rotary engines I've been looking for an fb for a while,I spent my summer working three jobs so I could afford one(I'm in my final year of secondary school), I think their engines are fascinating and they look awesome, however... I'm 18, and insurance on a classic in Ireland isn't to be had until at least 21 so I'm just looking for a small project to kill some time and have some fun rebuilding with a few friends. And some roads around west cork are brilliant to drive, and an rx7 fb to me is perfect to drive them with,although,Kinda sucks to drive with my Citroens mighty 60bhp anyway...
Once again thanks for adding me, and I look forward to talking to fellow car nuts!

I still have superb recall of those days though. I was a real car nut then....still am for some cars.

i assume for an fb you'll be wanting one 30 years plus to avoid the vrt?

Thanks for the welcome Yup, I got a quote to bring a 1986 fb in from the north, they wanted 1400€ for it, so that was a no go for that car. All my mates think I'm idiotic to want an old rotary, so much potential for the rotary engine I think, it's a shame the reputation they've earned from the nsu ro80 I think it was called. I'd want an fb that needs engine work/engine rebuild, I've a 1968 Saab v4 kept in storage at the moment,but the bodywork on her scares me enough to not even dare tackle right now. So I'd prefer to deal with something that needs engine work, I want to learn more about rotaries, I've rebuilt a few engines on courses, but never a rotary, So I'm very eager to learn

Welcome to the Forum, like Dave (Codge) I8 was also a long time ago for me, I had a couple of Ro 80s, they do not warrant the reputation they gained & were far ahead of their time, inboard discs, Front wheel drive, semi automatic clutch, etc etc

Welcome along man. Were you up at Japfest? I had my FB out at it with the rest of the Irish Rotary lads. I do know of an FB for sale in Dublin, think it is an 86. She is looking for about 1200 - let me know if you want her number.

Nope, I wasn't at japfest I would've loved to have gone, but was busy. I just joined Irish rotary actually.
Would you mind giving me her number? Im still trying to get use to forums, I'm terrible with computers Couldn't hurt to just inquire about the car I've been checking most sites religiously for the past few months, whenever I get close to one it disappears (is bought) or is eaten with rust.

Haha, yeah. Because my FB is one of the very few on the road in the Republic, I get lots of tip offs about FBs for sale and I try to find them a good home

That's half the reason why I want an FB, they're very rare and different to everything else on the road. When I mention rx7 people think of the FD, some of my friends didn't realises there were three different models of the rx7, I've seen more Ferrari 458's, Aston Martin DB5's and mustang fast backs then I've seen FB's, I've only ever seen one up close many years ago, I loved it I've a weak spot for old cars and classics. The FB ticks the right boxes for me, rarity, interesting and a classic plus I want to try a rotary rebuild
