Hi everyone. I don't currently have an RX-7 but I am looking into buying one. My sister's ex boyfriend had one a couple years ago and I always loved riding around in that car. It just always seemed like a fun car. (I even got to drive it once even though I was only 15) Then I was looking around on the internet and I found a white 83. As soon as I saw it I was determined to try and buy it. So basically I'm trying to find out what to look for when buying a used RX-7. Please post with any details I should look for to try and get a good vehicle.

Yeah I read through that. So I was also wondering what are some good mods to do to get more horse power? I have also heard stuff about redlining a rotary is good for it and that you can mix 2 stroke oil in the gas?

the rotary engine needs some lubricant - think of the piston engine, the engine oil goes up the bores with the pistons, and gets taken back with them too (unless your oil control rings are kippered of course ) - with a rotary, there is no going back (in more ways than one 8-) ) so the oil has to become wasted.
The FB has an Oil Metering Pump to draw a little oil from the sump, and drop it into the carb, mixing it with the fuel, lubricating the tips and seals, and burning off. This is why you need to be careful when selecting your engine oil - most modern synthetic oils are designed not to burn off, so they leave a residue...which is bad.

You can add a little 2 stoke oil into the fuel, either to back up the OMP, or to replace it completely.

I'm no guru, so someone might come along and correct some of this, but it's how I see it at least :)

This is where I get flamed.
I would rather do 50 miles at a steady speed on a good dry warm day than belt about red lining the poor thing. It's a road machine after all not a jet fighter.
