Hello from Olympia Washington

Hello all,

I have been toying with the idea of getting one of these wonderful cars for a long time. My father had a GLS-SE when I was 16 and refused to sell it to me when he got rid of it. Ever since I have has an interest in the first gens. Now some 20 years later a guy at work was giving a 79 away so now its mine. Unfortunately it is a really poor example but I'm sure it will be replaced with a better example when A Volvo project of mine is completed and sold.

The car was originally bought for his girlfriend then he started driving it after they broke-up. He was interested in drifting so unfortunately he started playing around with the RX7. He eventually started to prepping the car to become a detected drift platform. He bought a V8 swap kit, had the diff welded, pulled the drivetrain and stripped the interior. Then he found a cheep Mustang and that is where the RX7 build stopped. So the car has a welded diff, currently no engine/trans installed and no interior. The body has some roof damage, a horrible aftermarket sunroof, a drivers door in primer and it was drifted over a curb which equals 3 bent wheels.

So far I have got to put the engine and trans back in (maybe today) and source up a non-welded diff. The car ran well when he pulled the engine so I hope I can get it going and source up a good body later.

Thanks,
Howie

Here are a few photos, got the engine and trans in it runs just got to get in the book and adjust a few things. Now about that diff.
If it was not for the roof damage and aftermarket sun roof I would probably plan on keeping it.

Well got another 79 this one is a fixer, going to sell the orange/bronze one. The Red one donated it's differential to the other one so it is drivable now and it now has a GSL LSD disk brake rear end. Has some mismatched wheels now until I decide what wheels to put on it. I want 15 inch wheels so not wasting money on any 13 inch tires.

Yes both correct. Quite a few projects now. I have a 81 Bertone Coupé in the garage that is going back together after a light restoration. You can see the roof in the 4th pic of the orange car. The blue one is a parts donor for that project, it should run and drive when all done. It had a hard life and was vandalized so all the primer is to try to keep it from rusting. Also the 95 850 T5-R in the mix. I have had that one for the longest.
