Engine storage

Hello all,
I'm going out of town for a few months. Is there anything I should do to prep the engine for sitting in the very humid Olympic Northwest? I see stuff about fogging oil and spraying two-cycle oil in the intake. Does anybody have advice on any technique for the rotary? The car will unfortunately be outside in the weather the entire time.

Thanks,
Howie

Have had much success when storing both 12A and 13B motors by squirting a bit of auto transmission fluid into each intake port and then manually turning over the engine several times. This seems to lube the apex and side seals and keeps them from sticking. When you start the engine up after the storage period, expect a bit of exhaust smoke until you burn off the tranny fluid. We use old spark plugs for the initial start up and swap then them out.

Our experience has been that rotaries do not like to sit for extended periods without a bit of housing and rotor lube.

Hope this helps.

I've read ATF is not ideal for long term use as it can attack the water seals. Two stroke is what I use.

Redex poured in neat will protect it really well..... be prepared to quite a bit of smoke though when you next start it as the Redex burns off.
